Austrian Post Unveils “Crypto Stamp Art” with Soulbound Token and Authenticity Certificate by HACKATAO X CRYPTO
Vienna – The Austrian Post has officially released its latest edition of Crypto stamp art (CSA) on Thursday, December 19, 2024. This special limited edition, created by renowned Italian artist duo Hackatao, is now available for purchase. The unique feature of this edition is that it is immortalized and secured on the blockchain, with the use of a Soulbound token as a certificate of authenticity. This marks the first time a Soulbound token has been used in this way.
The CSA collection features works by well-known digital artists, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item for art enthusiasts, philatelists, and crypto investors alike.
The four motifs featured on the stamps are inspired by Austrian history, specifically Empress Sisi and Emperor Franz Joseph. Each motif has a “living” and “dead” version, with the latter representing the idea that “in death, we are all equal.” The stamps beautifully combine traditional Austrian elements with modern technology, telling the story of a life filled with tragedy, romance, and wanderlust.
The digital versions of the stamps come in various rarity grades, ranging from Danube Blue to Imperial Red. The collection also includes rare digital “misprints” that are highly coveted. The physical and digital versions of the stamps are linked forever through the use of a Soulbound token, making it impossible for them to be transferred from one wallet to another.
Artist duo Hackatao expressed their excitement about being a part of this project, stating, “We were intrigued by this project because it allowed us to engage with something as institutional as the Postal Service and become part of the history of a form of collecting that runs parallel to the crypto art world. Being part of a collection that embodies such a rich history moved and inspired us.”
The Crypto stamp art is priced at EUR 21.80 per stamp and has a total issue of 10,000 stamps, with 2,500 available for each motif. The stamps can be purchased at selected post offices, the Crypto stamp online shop (shop.crypto.post.at/en), and through the collector’s service (phone: +43 577 67 – 95095; email: sammler-service@post.at).
